“ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT THE LIFE IN FRONT OF YOU IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE LIFE BEHIND YOU”
- Junaid Sarwar
ABOUT ME
I am a Level 2 accredited counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association.
I decided to become a counsellor as a mature person because my passion for helping people who were suffering kept driving me to want to know, understand and do more. The more life I lived and experienced the more I wanted to connect with others as a support. So, after working in a number of fields including teaching and pastoral care for the past 15 years, I decided to take the next step to become a professional counsellor at a Masters level.
I can promise whatever hardships or challenges you are experiencing I will help guide you through your journey in a safe and supportive non-judgmental space.
HOW I CAN HELP
Sometimes we need to talk to someone who cares.
Often we rely on friends, family, or colleagues to get us through some difficult times in our lives and it feels great to have that support, but sometimes life is busy, and we feel like we don’t want to burden others or reveal what’s going on for fear of being judged, and sometimes we just need a bit of extra help.
I can provide the extra bit of help and support you might need, through a person-centered approach, honouring your uniqueness to build a connection that fosters authentic self-reflection to identify your goals and a path to a better sense of well-being.
While I favour a humanistic style of counselling, your therapy will be specifically tailored to your needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches from CBT, ACT, Strength-based counselling, and Narrative therapy
See below for a snapshot of these approaches
Humanistic approach
A client-centered approach emphasising empathy, authenticity, self-awareness, and personal growth to foster emotional well-being.
CBT approach
A structured, goal-oriented approach identifying and changing negative thought patterns to improve emotions and behaviour.
Strength based approach
Focuses on strengths, abilities, and resources to empower growth, resilience, and problem-solving.
Narrative therapy approach
Explores client's life stories, helping reframe challenges and build empowering narratives for meaning and growth.
Acceptance & Commitment therapy approach
Uses mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based actions to help clients manage challenges and enhance psychological flexibility.

Respect, Empathy and Confidentiality
Seeking to understand ourselves brings greater fulfillment, self-awareness, authenticity, and personal growth. When we explore our values, strengths, emotions, and limitations, we can understand what truly matters to us. This awareness helps us make choices aligned with our passions and goals, leading to a more meaningful and purpose-driven life. Understanding ourselves enhances our ability to navigate challenges, regulate emotions, and build resilience. It allows us to embrace our unique qualities, let go of self-doubt and foster self-compassion. Ultimately, self-understanding empowers us to live authentically, cultivate inner peace, and create a life that feels genuinely fulfilling.
Well-being is about a state of overall health, balance, and satisfaction encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions. It involves feeling good, functioning effectively, and maintaining a sense of purpose and connection in life. Well-being is vital for our happiness because it supports resilience, enhances relationships, and promotes a fulfilling and meaningful existence. When we prioritise well-being, we are better equipped to manage challenges, make positive decisions, and pursue our goals. It allows us to experience joy, gratitude, and contentment, creating a foundation for a life that feels rich and rewarding, both for ourselves and those around us.
Empowerment brings healing and happiness by fostering a sense of control, confidence, and self-worth in our lives. When we feel empowered, we recognise our ability to make choices, overcome challenges, and create meaningful change. This helps us let go of feelings of helplessness and self-doubt, promoting emotional healing and resilience. Empowerment also encourages personal growth, enabling us to set boundaries, pursue our passions, and align our actions with our values. By taking ownership of our lives, we cultivate a deeper sense of fulfillment, purpose, and joy, strengthening our capacity to thrive and build positive connections with others
